I would like to expose the 4 negative beliefs, or what I refer to as the 4 myths, that come from your medical doctors that are keeping you in pain.
• The First Myth is that medications and Injections Will Cure Your Pain.
Look, even if they block the pain at first, then once they wear off, not only will the pain come back, it’ll generally comes back even worse than before. And because you neglected to fix the actual cause of the problem the first time, the damage to your body will now be much worse than before as well.
Don’t forget that if you go the route of getting epidural shots... you will eventually run out of “allowed” injections.
Look... When you are only allowed so much of anything... shouldn’t that be a big red flag that what you’re getting just may be very dangerous to your health? Now, Medications and injections can help manage the pain. There’s no denying that. But they’ll only be temporary solutions, and because you can’t feel the pain anymore, you’ll continue to cause more and more damage to your body. Also, if you become addicted to the pills they’ve prescribed for you, then they’ll stop prescribing them which will cause your life to spiral out of control, because you’re still in pain, and now you’re addicted to drugs.
That’s no way to live your life... is it?
• The Second Myth is believing that you’re in pain because you’re getting older.
Unfortunately, getting older is something that we have no control over. Here’s the truth though. Most health problems don't happen to us right away. They develop over time. Little by little, our everyday activities start to wear down our spines. When the body is out of proper alignment, it will degenerate faster than normal.
Have you ever thought about why most people have only one bad hip, shoulder or knee for years before the other one starts to go bad? Both sides of the body are the same age, however, only one side seems to be breaking down more rapidly. That’s because of the muscle imbalances and misalignments of the bones all the way from your neck to your feet.
Therefore it’s not your fault why you can’t get relief from your pain. Most of us haven’t been taught that it’s important to take care of our spine. And because the spine gets neglected as we age, it becomes unhealthy... and then we start to hurt.
This is when the lies get out of control by your doctors. You see, they’ll tell you that the pain is there because you’re getting older and you’ll just have to live with it. But here’s the deal, when a doctor tells you that, don’t listen to him.
My oldest patient this year is a 99-year-old gentleman that had chronic low back pain for over 40 years. He got relief after his very first visit at my office when he was 97 and has continued to be 75%-90% better for over 2 years now. Pretty darn good for a 99-year-old!
Remember, just because you’re getting older doesn’t mean that you can’t get rid of your pain.
• The Third Myth is believing that a treatment that isn’t working, will work eventually.
Let me be clear about this first. This doesn’t mean to stop trying a specific treatment after only a couple of visits.
For some of my patients, it’s taken them over 15-20 visits to begin to see significant improvement. In my office, I’ll change the treatment frequently because not everyone heals the same way or at the same speed as someone else. If you’re following everything the doctor is telling you and you haven’t gotten any relief after 2-3 weeks, then you need to make sure that the doctor is changing your treatment plan or find a new doctor on your own.
What I am talking about is when you take specific medicines, or get injections, or you have a dangerous surgery, and then you decide to do it all over again because the doctor convinced you that he could fix it the next time around. Don’t be fooled! Look for different solutions.
• The Fourth Myth is that Surgery Will Cure Your Pain.
To understand why this isn’t true, let’s go through a quick patient scenario of one of my low back patients:
This is a very similar story that has happened to many of my patients, but I’m going to talk about one in particular.
• This patient went to his family doctor for his back pain, just like we all do.
• The family doctor started off by ordering x-rays and giving him pain pills… That didn’t work.
• On the next visit 3 weeks later, he ordered an MRI, gave him stronger pain pills, and sent him to physical therapy… That didn’t work either.
• So, after another 8 weeks the doctor finally referred him to a pain specialist, where all he got was an injection and stronger pain pills… Well, that didn’t work either.
• Finally, he got referred to the orthopedic surgeon, and of course... the surgeon recommended what? Surgery. He told him that he knew exactly what was wrong, and he could cure him of his pain. The patient believed him because the doctor used words like “minimally invasive,” and “small incision site,” and “possible outpatient procedure” to convince him that surgery was now the safest, and best thing he could do for his pain. So he got really excited and had the surgery…. But it didn’t work.
• So, guess what happened on his next visit to the surgeon? The surgeon told him that he fixed the problem. He said that the pain was just in his head and he must be making it up just to get attention. So, he prescribed anti-depressants for him and kicked him out of his office.
This unfortunate story happens every single day to patients all over the country. I’ve had dozens of patients come to my office with very similar stories to this.
So, why did the surgery NOT work?
He had a herniated disc...
The surgeon removed the herniated portion of the disc...
So why does he still have pain? And why is it not his fault... but it is the doctor’s fault?
The answer is much simpler than you may think. Even though the MRI “proved” that the disc was “pressing” on the nerve that traveled down his leg, that wasn’t the only thing causing his pain.
IN ACTUALITY... THE HERNIATED DISC WASN’T CAUSING HIS PAIN AT ALL! (IF IT WAS THEN THEN THE SURGERY WOULD HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFUL.)
AND NOW HE’S LEFT WITH SCAR TISSUE AND MORE INSTABILITY IN HIS SPINE THAT WILL BE WITH HIM FOREVER.
Now, if you’re scared of your story ending up like this. Then pay close attention to what I mean when I say the herniated disc wasn’t causing his pain and possibly not your pain either.
Just like this patient in the story...
• Maybe you have rotation in the bones of your spine that need to be adjusted.
• Maybe your hips are "un-level" from structural or biomechanical issues.
• Maybe you have muscle imbalances that haven’t been addressed.
• Maybe you have trigger points in your muscles that are referring pain to other areas.
• Maybe you are experiencing side effects from your daily medications. Many medications can cause cramping in your muscles.
Or, most likely… you have a combination of some or all of these things!
The point I’m making is that our body isn’t like a machine that can be repaired just by removing bad parts. However, the entire medical establishment treats your body exactly like a machine. As if your body only needs to be fixed as individual parts with medication and surgery.
Think about that for a second. You have specialists in every field of medicine for almost every body part.
Each doctor within each specialty will prescribe medication and perform surgery on the body part that they were specially trained in.
And, the worst part about visiting too many specialists is that before long, you end up taking 15-20 medications to treat the side-effects of the different drugs that you’re on. You started with only one symptom years ago, and now you have 30 symptoms, you’re on all of these medications, and you’re actually unhealthier now than when you started.
Here’s the frightening part… I have seen patients that have had 5-10 knee surgeries and patients that have had 15-25 back surgeries!
Their scars make their bodies look like something out of a science fiction movie.
I know the surgeons who have done this, and I believe they are the most unethical people in the state.
These local surgeons are butchering their patients only to satisfy their egos, and to use their patients as guinea pigs.
If they really believe that cutting open the same part of the body 5-25 times is going to fix someone’s pain, then I believe they need to be evaluated for clinical competency.
Now please understand, I believe that the majority of surgeons are intelligent, caring doctors that only want the best for their patients. I’m good friends with some of them here in my town, and I even refer patients to them when I feel the patient will respond well to surgery. I’m not lumping all surgeons together as being bad, but I guarantee you that if a surgeon is reading this right now… he or she knows who the good ones are, and the bad ones are in their own community. There’s simply no denying that.
If you don’t want this story to happen to you, then follow my advice now.
You can get rid of your symptoms safely, with our help, if you just have a proven system to follow.
